Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman was the first child born to Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. After her father died as a Carnival barker at the age of a young girl, she had to help keep the family going by working as a cook and server. Ruth attended the school in the tenement district of Boston's most deprived. She quit school in just two years, to go into acting. Her chosen path proved to be filled with challenges: in New York, she obtained the opportunity to pose as stills in a magazine for crime, but theatrical work eluded her. After working as a hat-check woman in a nightclub she resigned and went back to Boston. In the New England Repertory Company was her first gig as a steady actor. Earned money performing during the daytime as an usherette. The study of drama helped her to receive a degree in the Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
